Pupil Council

We elect the School Council once a year.  Each class elects two school councillors. To be considered for election, children give a speech to the class. They talk about why they want to be a member, their qualities and how they may be good as a council member.  This shows children a real life example of our British Value, Democracy.

Ms Somerville is the co-ordinator and she holds a meeting once a week. Council members discuss with their class and then vote on the projects they want to focus on each term. Ms Somerville oversees the projects.

We encourage all children in the school to talk to their council member. They can share something they:

  • are not happy with
  • are particularly proud of
  • feel is a really good idea for the school.

The members have time each week to discuss issues with their classes.
